Embraced by My Lover

I ignored you, neglected you, shut you out.
I chased after others, false hopes and false dreams.
Yet here you are holding me safe in your arms.
No scolding, no coldness,
ever my Lover,
just as before.

Does he watch from the bullrushes?
Does he see our embrace?
Does he wonder in awe?
Does he want a taste?

May he see Your eyes as I have seen,
the depth of the love, the depth of the pain.
Look on him now.
Let him see Your face.

Jesus my Lover,
my God,
my King.
